Fall Changes at the Library

August 28, 2006

We never stop changing at the Library! Thursday, August 31 marks the end of our shorter summer hours. Getting back to our 68 hours per week will be great, as school students need extra opportunities to visit the library and more people will have a chance to use our computers and our collection.

Our hours for Fall-Winter-Spring are:
Monday – Thursday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Storytimes will begin on Monday, September 11. With eight storytimes planned, including Family Night on Tuesdays at 6:30, we hope all young children are able to participate. It’s a great way to learn and laugh and share together.

Our Fall Book Sale, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will be bigger and better than ever. The Sale begins on Thursday, October 12 and continues to Monday, October 16. Monday will be a special day, with all paperbacks priced at $2 per bag, and hardcovers for ½ price. Only books will be featured at this sale – no videos, compact discs, records, etc.

October 20 will bring a traveling exhibit to the Emporia Public Library – a BUS-eum – with a small theater area and descriptive displays. The exhibit is called VANISHED:German-American Civilian Internment, 1941-48. For more information, check out the website http://www.traces.org/buseum_2_tour/buseum_2.html

Plan to spend a little time with us soon!
